Sea Ranger Service
Sustainable Planet / Vulnerable Communities
It is increasingly recognised that healthy oceans and sustainable ocean-related activities (e.g. shipping, fishing) are essential for maintaining life on earth over the long-term. However, degraded marine and coastal ecosystems are threatening the livelihoods of coastal populations as well as the ocean's ability to generate oxygen and store carbon. Biodiverse, healthy oceans are more resilient to climate change and critical in the fight against it.
Sea Ranger Service's intervention aims to address this problem by carrying out a range of biodiversity restoration projects (amongst other paid projects), and to do this in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way using sailing vessels. The business has 3 core services: 1) Offshore services: Providing cost-effective and zero emission offshore capacity for environmental management services at sea; 2) Bootcamp: Offering young people a unique personal development experience while training them for maritime careers through a 2-week intensive programme; and 3) Ship building: Building cost-effective and zero-emission offshore work vessels.
