Government is the world's largest and arguably most powerful workforce. In OECD countries, the public sector employs around 20% of the total workforce. In developing countries the figure is often more than 30%. Public officials directly control around 40% of global GDP, and influence the entire economy through regulations, incentives, and direct spending. Yet this vast and consequential workforce is one of the world's worst prepared for the 21st century's organisational demands and complex, fast-moving problems. Central to this lack of preparedness - and the errors and wastage that result - is the dismal state of government knowledge management and upskilling solutions.
Apolitical was founded to address this information gap in the public sector.. It is a digital platform built for policymakers, allowing them to gain insights on the issues they are tackling, share ideas with each other, and to identify the right partners to help them implement. The business offers a free learning platform enabling peer-to-peer interaction and access to basic courses across a range of issues/sectors. It also offers paid short courses created with expert partners, like Oxford University and the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
