Consistent, supportive relationships with adults are key to young people transitioning successfully to adulthood. However, a third of young people in care experience multiple placements per year, often because of conflict resulting in relationship breakdown.

The Leap CC Under our Roof programme aims to support young people and adults in the care system to build safe, supportive and stable relationships by providing them with the tools to manage conflict in an effective and productive way, and through this creating an environment in which young people in care can thrive.

The programme is designed around core principles of co-production (with young people), listening, commitment, responsiveness and time.

Phase Two of Under our Roof is being delivered with a Local Authority foster service, and with a children's residential home provider. Results will be shared with the wider sector.

Treebeard provided funding for the Under Our Roof pilot between 2018 and 2021. We are now providing restricted funding to support the project's second phase between 2021 and 2024.
